Paige's Surgery

Paige is going back to the Cleveland Clinic and will have surgery to remove the metal rod from her back. She has been in a lot of pain and it looks as though much of it is a result of the screws holding the rod in place working their way loose. This should alleviate much of the pain in her back. She also has pain on the left side of her back that continues all the way down her leg and into her foot which this surgery won't help. The doctor told her he would look more into that after she has recovered from the surgery.

So keep Paige in your thought and prayers!

Kate and Phoebe Visit

It was really great having Kate and Phoebe visit for three weeks. We had a lot of fun and a friend loaned us just about everything we needed for Princess Phoebe. The baby behaved very well on the plane and received a certificate in recognition of her first airplane flight.

When Phoebe morphed into Miss Cranky Pants her Uncle John and Grandpa Alan logged many miles walking her around the house to calm her. There was a difference of opinion on the correct technique. John said she preferred being carried vertically on his shoulder but Grandpa claimed she preferred being held horizontally.

Phoebe met her Great Grandma Tomkinson for the first time. When she went to Maryland she met her other Great Grandma too.

Happy 86th Birthday Mom!

Not too many people celebrate their birthday by having a chemo treatment. You sure know how to celebrate! Love you!

Bye Porsche

Porsche passed away early yesterday morning, on a day she was supposed to be going to see the vet. I'm not so sure that at day's end things would have been different. She would hardly eat and had episodes where she wasn't moving very well, and Shepherd's seem to be prone to hip problems. But she went on her own terms, just like she lived every day. She was definitely her own dog. She will be greatly missed.
