As easy as falling off a bike (or not)

Last weekend, I completed my first century (100 mile) bike ride. But the big news is there were no trips to the emergency room. No need for band-aid nor aspirin. Pedal time was a smidgeon over 7 hours and total time right around the 8 hour mark. The last half of the ride was pretty much into the wind, so that pretty much sucked, or blew, or, well, whatever. I'm still feeling some of the effects of the ride when I sit down, but it's getting better.

  1. Congratulations! I would say that a 100 mile bike ride with no trips to the emergency room is definitely something to celebrate!!

  2. Glad to hear the training wheels are working out! What are planning to do with all the band-aids you spent the winter stock piling?

  3. Well, thanks all. Just be looking for good deals on band-aids and other first aid supplies on Craig's List and eBay.

Today, I put the kayak in the water for the first time this year. I went out to the state park and had a pretty good time. I hope to get in the water a few more time before the ice gets here. What a damn, depressing thought.

  4. Everyone just needs to plan a family trip out here - plenty of biking and kayaking! We actually haven't been sea kayaking yet, but it is on our to do list. One of the other faculty members here has two kayaks that she offered to load us, so maybe we'll get a chance to try it out one of these days. Although, we're guessing the baby might really cut down on our amount of free time :)
